MEMORIES OF ROUTE 66

Transparent watercolor on paper • 14 x 22 inches        (available)

Of course, 66 refers to Route 66, the Mother Road. My family traveled on the old Rt. 66 at least 15 or 20 times through the years. We started in 1938, when we moved from a dust-bowl farm in Western Oklahoma to Palm Springs, California, where we lived in a tent village on the Agua Caliente Cahuilla Reservation in downtown Palm Springs. I was almost five years old and it is still etched in my memory bank.
